The tier one contractor’s Essex division has been chosen for six projects under the new ProCure23 framework.
Peter Whitmore, managing director for Morgan Sindall Construction in the East, mentioned that two major projects will include a new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Pitsea and the development of the Southend Elective Surgical Hub.Reports Construction Journal
The CDC will be built on the site of the current Pitsea leisure centre, which is slated for demolition. The new diagnostic facility will feature an MRI and CT scanning suite, X-ray machines, a pharmacy, ultrasound, consultancy rooms, a phlebotomy area, as well as a new library and sporting facilities.
This CDC will be among approximately 30 new centers in the UK, part of a government initiative launched after the Covid-19 pandemic. The goal is to relocate diagnostics from acute hospitals to community sites, making access easier for the public and enabling earlier diagnoses.
