Morrison to start construction of £60m new schools scheme

A primary and two new secondary schools will be constructed by Morrison Construction. This £60m scheme will be started with construction works from next month in Winchburgh. This place is one of West Lothian’s three Core Development areas. The area over the next ten years will be witnessing a significant number of new homes. The construction of all the facilities will be operational in 2023.

Under the new scheme proposal, below are the details:

  • A holy family primary school as replacement and comprises initial capacity for 231 students and also includes a 64 place nursery
  • Winchburgh academy that stands to be non-denominational secondary school  with initial capacity for 660 pupils
  • A Sinclair Academy that will be a denominational secondary school with initial capacity for 660 students
  • A shared physical education and community block with floodlit synthetic and grass sports pitches, and a 25m swimming pool
