Robertson has won the £18m construction contract of a packaging factory in West Lothian. SAICA Group has awarded the works to a Spanish packaging company which is establishing a £50m plant in Livingston. The company has appointed Robertson to deliver the project.
The current building on the site will be converted into a cardboard manufacturing facility for SAICA Pack. It was formerly a distribution centre for a supermarket chain. The contractor Robertson working for the project will retain and refurbish the existing building.
Also, there will be several extensions and modifications to accommodate equipment at the working site. Construction is due to complete in December 2021. Alongside, SAICA Pack is intending to open the new site directly after completion.
Besides, SAICA Pack will decommission its current sites in Edinburgh and Milngavie as it consolidates its Scottish operations. But the operations at Grangemouth Sheet Plant will be due to remain in operation.
