A £20m-plus leisure centre project in Reading is all set to get started by the London contractor Pellikaan Construction. A new leisure centre with a 25m competition standard swimming pool will replace the Rivermead Leisure Complex and Gym at the Richfield Avenue site. The old centre will be finally demolished and the new centre will be built on the existing car park site.
The second phase includes the demolition of the existing building in order to make additional car park spaces, and the old leisure centre will remain open till the new leisure centre is completed in Spring 2023.
