£8.4m redevelopment begins on St Edmunds post office

A former Bury St Edmunds post office renovation is in place as part of the £8.4 million regeneration project at 17-18 Cornhill. The local council’s investment will first see the rear of the building completely demolished, and replaced by 12 flats and two commercial units.

Besides, the Victorian front will be retained. Perfect Circle has been appointed by West Suffolk Council to provide project management and structural, mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering, quantity surveying, , and architectural advisory services for the scheme.

This project was procured via the SCAPE Consultancy, a direct award framework which drives efficiency, collaboration, time and cost savings on construction projects. The adjoining walkway by more than 50% is also a significant development which will increase footfall between the two sites and will improve the visitor experience.

£2.75 million was secured by West Suffolk Council in government investment, which provides cost certainty for the redevelopment. Managing a strict budget has been a key part of Perfect Circle’s role.
