A 37-storey first stage tower of the £120m Exchange Square 2 development is taken over by Builder McAleer & Rushe, and works start this week in Birmingham city centre. The project is divided into 2 phases. The first phase covers £68m works and forms part of the wider scheme being developed by Nikal. Phase two will be a 15-storey Premier Inn hotel construction.
Under the phase 1, residential block has 375 build-to-rent apartments. They are pre-sold to the landlord Grainger. Nikal backs Exchange Square 2 as the latest element in the second phase and claims it as a Masshouse project. The client team for this project includes architect Stephenson Studio, Curtins delivering structural engineering, and Arup as services engineer.
Commercial Director at McAleer & Rushe, Emmett McGinley said that Using our expertise in the residential and BTR sectors, we will be implementing modern methods of construction. This is to complete the tower building and pave the way for the successful and sustainable delivery of the project for all stakeholders involved and much-needed homes in the area.
