Farrans is set to build a £30m pedestrian and cycle bridge across the River Clyde to link Govan and Partick. Glasgow City Council is all set to confirm the appointment of Farrans this week for the contract to build the rotating pivot bridge despite a £12m jump in the project’s budget due for the most part to soaring steel prices. Work is expected to begin in January 2022, with the bridge, which will connect Water Row with Pointhouse Quay, finished by the end of 2023.
The bridge deck length is 115m long with a rotating central span of 68m, making it one of the largest opening footbridges in Europe.
