The City Council is progressing plans to redevelop Broomfield South Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre in Belle Isle, creating 100 additional places for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Tilbury Douglas Construction has been appointed to deliver the project, which will involve demolishing part of the existing school on Broom Place and replacing it with a new three-storey teaching block.

The council is funding the development through its capital programme as it responds to rising demand for specialist school places across the city.

The new main school building is scheduled for completion in February 2028.

Tilbury Douglas will then undertake the remaining external works and demolish the existing main school building, with the entire project expected to be completed in September 2028.
