Leeds PBSA gets planning approval and works to start

Leeds Council has approved planning permission to Alumno for building a seven-storey student accommodation building. Architect Howarth Litchfield who’s a regular Alumno partner has designed the 11,955 sqm purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) project.

A disused site on Whitelock Street will be replaced with the new construction and will have 105 residential units. The construction will house 411 students in 53 studios and that range from four to eight bedroom cluster flats.

Study, gym, TV room, roof terrace, laundry room, and a bike shed are the communal facilities provided in the plan. The ground floor of the building will have art studios and galleries.

Starting from early next year, demolition will be taking place with construction scheduled to complete by May 2023. There’s no confirmed construction company for the time being, that would be working for the project said the developer.
