A shopping centre at Stirling will be redeveloped, after an architect is being appointed to start the works after the end for fear of coronavirus. Pod Architects were shortlisted to start the reconfiguration and ‘future-proofing’ of the Thistles Shopping Centre.
Asset manager Scoop has appointed the architect and the Stirling shopping centre was acquired in December 2020.This provides over 500,000 square feet of retail space, with a total of 90 units. The redeveloping shopping centre is located at the city centre.
The shopping mall is home to several anchor tenants including Boots, Next, and Primark. Non-essential retail is scheduled to reopen at The Thistles Shopping Centre on 26th April. The restrictions are lifted in Scotland and this allows opening up.
The reconfiguration by Pod Architects has been appointed to identify the vacant spaces, and meet operational needs. This will allow and respond to the changing dynamics of all shopping centres.
Scoop is consulting with the city’s key stakeholders to identify Stirling’s main priorities and needs. The move will establish how the shopping centre can best cater for the local community’s evolving requirements.
