Thurston to record £50m turnover for first time this year

Thurston Group reckons its turnover is heading towards £50m, for the first time this year. This modular building manufacturer is keen to mark the milestone as demand for portable modular buildings allowed it to double its turnover in just three years.

The firm was fully functional during the pandemic, despite the downfall across major businesses. Its office-based staff had a shift to remote working while factory staff worked within operating bubbles with strict social distancing norms put in place.

Thurston says it has benefited from the pandemic. The firm was successful in delivering vaccination centres, extra hospital space, and testing centres. Thurston turned over £35.3m in the year to 31st October 2020 and made a pre-tax profit of £2.7m.

The profits figured out last year were generated with capacity to produce more than 550 units per month from its three manufacturing sites. The order book suggests a rise of 28% from Thurston this year as it will reach £50m turnover.
