T&T records a new-high of £681m revenue

Turner & Townsend as consultant has booked another new record year despite being impacted by the coronavirus pandemic in its final quarter. Turnover for T&T increased by 17% to £681m and operating profit grew from £68m to £88m as the overall 2019–2020 was strong.

With business in the UK which helped by big infrastructure raised revenue by 9% to 283m, the consultant T&T has split revenue evenly between building and infrastructure projects. Currently the UK now employs 3,000 of the 6,789 worldwide headcount.

The performances in the UK were supported by major infrastructure programs. These include the Environment Agency’s national flood risk management program and in rail where T&T oversaw the set-up of High Speed 2’s program controls and commercial capability.

The programs enabled the project to obtain government approval to proceed into delivery as T&T breaks out from the unexpected pandemic. The infrastructure business saw strong revenue growth outside of the UK too in Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and North America.
