The London Borough of Hounslow Council has appointed Wates for delivering 61 high quality homes. This new scheme will allow meeting the growing demand in the borough for affordable housing.
This construction is part of the local authority’s 5,000 Pledge to secure an additional 5,000 high quality and affordable new homes for local people by 2022. After the planning permission was received in March 2020, Wates is yet to start the works starting from the next month.
The site will be replaced with the demolition of former sheltered accommodation which is no longer fit for purpose. The construction of 61 new homes by Wates after replacement is for social rent across three new blocks.
Wheelchair access will be provided for eight of the new homes that will come up in the construction of 61. The focus of this construction also involves several initiatives such as helping residents lead more environmentally friendly lives.
The new homes will be all electric. So the reliance on gas for heating and cooking will have no place in this scheme. This will promote an opportunity to use cleaner energy sources while net zero carbon standards are in place of new homes construction in the borough.
