The Land East of Sevenoaks High Street regeneration project will be centred around a new leisure centre, complemented by a cultural hub, market hall, enhanced public transport connections, new public green spaces and a range of energy-efficient homes.
The development is expected to create around 263 jobs during the construction phase, providing a significant boost to local employment and economic activity.
Over the coming months, Wates will prepare initial design proposals for the scheme, giving local residents and stakeholders the opportunity to provide feedback through a series of public consultation events.
Following consultation, the designs will be refined and updated before a planning application is submitted, which is currently anticipated from late 2027.
Subject to securing planning approval, construction work on the regeneration scheme could commence in 2028.
The Council’s Cabinet Member for Improvement & Innovation, Cllr Michael Horwood, said: “Wates has an impressive track record of delivering major, high-quality construction projects and working closely with local communities to shape places that people can truly be proud of.”
“We want residents and businesses at the heart of shaping these proposals and, over the coming months, Wates will be bringing forward plans alongside a series of engagement events, giving the community a real opportunity to influence the future of the scheme before planning permission is sought.”
