Barratt to start works for 300 new homes construction on Macclesfield school site

Development partner Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West were given approval to build 300 new homes, while Homes England has confirmed the same. The construction works will take place at the former King’s School campus in Macclesfield. The approval for this scheme was made during this week.

The home’s construction is yet to start once new school campus works are finished. The plan is to open the new school for the 2020/21 academic year. The main developer Homes England gained the Fence Avenue campus from King’s School in August 2018. However the deal saw the site being leased back to the school for two years.

The lease deal for the older project allowed easy investment for building the new campus which is in progress. With housing association Torus partnership, the historic school building on the site will be converted into apartments and further put on market sale after the developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West completes the home construction.
