A new, 1.1-mile roadway connecting the new route with Breheny’s recently finished southern bypass segment will go to the east of the settlements of Lyminster and Wick. To minimize inconvenience for road users, the new roadway, which will feature a footway/cycleway on one side and a verge on the other, will be built as far away from the existing highway network as is practical.
It will assist proposals for 1,260 different houses while bringing about much-needed upgrades to the highways leading into and out of Littlehampton.
Joy Dennis, the County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation, stated: “The main building phase has commenced, but initial, enabling works, such as vegetation clearance, had already been finished. This is excellent news.”
The Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership Local Growth Fund, developer contributions (Section 106 money), the Department for Transportation, and the County Council contribute to the project’s funding.
