The first phase of £24m redevelopment for Stockport College works is underway as Seddon Construction takes on it. The plans include the construction of a new arts building within the shell of the former arts department.
Also, there’s a work schedule of refurbishment for Vernon Tower to provide new teaching facilities as a part of the plan. Initially there was planning consent approval for the college from Stockport Council back in 2018 after joining with the Trafford College Group.
The appointment for the project had Wates Construction on cards in September 2018, via the North West Construction Hub‘s (NWCH) construction frameworks. However, the firm is being withdrawn after failing to agree a price in August 2019.
Currently, Seddon Construction is appointed to complete the project. The expectations for the first phase stand as to be completed in July 202, within the £7.1m budget. Partners on the project include WSP planners, Hydrock and CBO Transport Project3 architects, Planit-IE, Rider Levett Bucknall, and Abacus CM.
