Amey monitors Area 12 roads as part of M&R

Amey achieved a £240m deal from Highways England to inspect and maintain three major motorway bridges over 15 years in the south west. The firm starting from November will maintain the M4 Prince of Wales, M5 Avonmouth, and M48 Severn bridges.

The activities including routine maintenance, structural inspections, and major renewal schemes will be accomplished with £16m per year, as the contract continues.

The M4 Prince of Wales Bridge comprises three structures- Cable Stay (948m), the Avon Viaduct (2.1km), and Gwent Viaduct (2.1km) while the M5 Avonmouth Bridge covers 1.4km. Alongside the M48 Severn Bridge is a suspension bridge that has the second highest tidal range in the world at 14.5m and covers 1.6km of road network.

Amey will become a member of the South West Asset Delivery Community as part of the contract. This ensures that the contract gives the best possible value for money and service. In turn the customers get a collaborative network with suppliers and other service delivery partners.
